Guanciale fat + Pecorino Romano + egg yolk + starchy pasta water. That creates the emulsion naturally. Adding cream is laziness disguised as cooking.

Do you mean your roommate put a literally "frozen" peas on it, or a defrost "frozen" peas disguised as "frozen peas in carbonara"?
Call the carabinieri immediately. This is culinary terrorism.
