Went on 5 dates, cooked dinner together at my place, talked about childhood memories until 3 AM, and then she vanished off the face of the earth. No fight, no weird vibes, just poof. Is basic decency completely dead?

Ghosting after 5 dates is emotional cowardice. A 15-second text saying "Hey, I enjoyed our time but don't see a romantic future" is the bare minimum human courtesy.
